Derby Day

Walcott celebrates as he scores his second in a 5-2 thrashing over Sp*rs last year
The build up to Sundays bloodbath has begun and it seems that Arsenal fans have a different feeling towards the North London Derby than they used to. Its fair to say that Arsenal are not as first rate as they used to be and Sp*rs are a teeny weeny bit better than they used to be (Yes a teeny weeny bit). Its upsetting to see how much the tables have turned as of late as the North London derby used to be a game where Arsenal came out on top. Nowadays, doubt runs throughout the minds of all Arsenal fans as they dont know what to expect.

The days of Henry, Bergkamp, Viera and Pires are over and those were the days where Derby day wouldn't have been a problem. Yet as of late, the loss of our major players as well as frustration from the fans has played a large part in the transition of power in North London.

Most Arsenal fans have started to worry due to poor recent form in the big matches, however, we go into the game having won 26 points out of a possible 36 so maintaining our current Premier League form will be crucial.

Funny fact : Arsenal have won the league more times than Tottenham have at White Hart Lane

How do we stop Bale?

However much we all despise Tottenham, they still have quality that cant be forgotten about. That geezer, whats his name ? oh yeah Bale. Hes a decent footballer isn't he? Well hes more than a decent footballer. Hes one of those guys who can harm any team, any time, any where. In order to come out with a respetable result we MUST mark him out of the game.

I see the absence of Sagna as bonus for us. Bac's recent form has been slacking and he plays as if he doesn't care. His replacement in Jenkinson makes me much happier. Being a huge Gooner himself, Jenko wouldn't ever want to lose a North London derby and would do whatever it took to stop that Welsh bloke from causing damage.

The correct balance between getting forward and staying back is needed for two reasons :
1. To pose a threat going forward, making Bals have to track back.
2. To keep a solid back line, preventing bale from harming us.

So with our full backs having the correct balance between defence an attack, I can see us stopping Bale.

Perhaps the biggest and most important part of Sundays battle will be our line up and team performance. I say this every post, yet whenever Giroud plays he gives 110% and whats more, he knows where the goal is. The Frenchman looks as if he wants to play for the club and fight for every match. Giroud is always hungry to receive the ball and feed it off to other players and his aerial presence can cause a threat upon Sp*rs' inconsistant back four.

Wilshere could potentially be the match winner for Arsenal come Sunday. His heart and desire to play for the club reflects on his performances on the pitch and like Giroud, always gives 110%. Jack fights and brings the play together and will be that player who gets the fans going.

Thinking about the game on Sunday brings mixed emotions. I dont quite exactly know how I feel. One minute im shitting myself, next im giving it the biggun to the Sp*rs scum. With this in mind, Wenger does pop out with a few surprises and loves the big matches. Who knows what will happen. Another 5-2 repeat would be nice.

Up the Gunners

Keep the Faith
