Podolski with Potential

Podolski and Giroud - The next Henry and Bergkamp
After an £11m pound move this summer, Podolski looks our new hope for the season. The departure of RVP to United made us wonder what their partnership could have been like. But things happen in the transfer window and people make unexpected moves (RVP to United). With RVP gone our only goalscoring hope is Podolski, despite the late move of Giroud from Montpellier.

With 33 goals in 88 appearances you would think this is a decent scoring record. With his previous team Colgne sinking down a division after a poor season, not even his impressive goal tally could keep them up. We are now left wondering wether or not Lukas can score 30 goals in a season against some of the world best players and a legue that is faster, more physical and relies heavily on technique.

So far I've been impressed by his recent performances. Both goals against Liverpool and Montpellier showed his composure when finishing and perfect timing of runs. These goals prove he has the capability of succeeding in a league that requires certain attributes. A tremendous freekick against Southampton was the image of RVP's freekick vs sunderland last season. This leaves me thinking were we a one man team last season, if another player can produce what he did?

We are yet to see a lethal partnership up front this season. I can see a partnership between Podolski and Giroud like what we once had in Henry - Bergkamp and Van Persie - Adebayor. But this wont happen instantly!
The pace, technique and finishing of Podolski and the Arial ability, physical presence and work rate of Giroud could spark into a potential Strike force. For any Gunners out there who are worried about where the goals will come from..... DONT
You hear it here first my fellow Gooners. When Giroud settles into life in the Premier League we will have one of the most unplayable strike forces this season.

Keep the Faith
Up the Gunners
