'A Wee Club Up North'

Walcott celebrating his well deserved Hat-trick

How is it possible to break down such a crazy football match ? Goal Goal Goal and so on.. Saturdays game brought both the best and worst of this Arsenal team. We looked dangerous with possession and without the ball we looked shaky and nervous. Conceding 3 goals and winning the match is very rare these days and when a result like that is pulled off the victory seems much sweeter.

After a performance like Theo Walcott's you'd imagine Arsene to instantly sign him up. His first and last goal had a hint of Thierry in them and it was only till 23 when Henry moved inside from the wing and played down the middle. It weird that because Walcott is 23 and he has just moved from the wing to up the middle. This could be the rise of an Arsenal legend and his future is uncertain ? This doesn't sound right to me. No other player in our team could have scored Walcott's first goal apart from himself. He held his run just a little bit later to remain onside and knew that he was fast enough to break ahead of the Newcastle defence. Two touches out his feet, leaving their defence for good and the rest is history. Theo's last goal proved that he doesn't only just have pace to his game but also cool finishing. He skipped past two Newcastle defenders before being rubgy tackled over and should have won a penalty. But gets up and cooly dinks it over the head of Tim Krul making that 7. Chants of 'Sing him up' were blasting round the stadium but his contract talks are all based around the money and not around his football career.

At times throughout the match we looked hesitant. Ba's strength caused problems for our back four and Gibbs' performance didnt help either. The movement of Ba, Cisse and Marveaux forced Gibbs inside, giving room for either of the three to run in behind and cause a threat. An example of this was their 3rd goal. They scored all of their 3 goals with ease and I wonder what the scoreline would have been if they had not tired in the last 20 minutes. The defence's performance was saved by our strong attacking display handing us three points.

It was a pleasure to see Giroud come on in the 84th minute and nearly score a hat-trick. Since the start I have had faith in him and he surely delivered this week. It was amazing to see a player come off the bench with such confidence after not having started for a few weeks. Both him and Walcott had a partnership going on and in the long term this looks promising. Perhaps 2 men up front could bring even more goals about this Arsenal side and have 4 playing in behind. If Giroud would have score when he hit the bar late on, who would go home with the match ball. Walcott or Giroud ?

A large factor to the victory was the fans. The fans act as that '12th man' and get the team fired up. Songs were being blasted all around the stadium. To all fans that were there.. I SALUTE YOU.

We move on to Southampton away on New years day so hopefully we can make it 5 wins on the trott.
