Its seems that only Arsenal are the ones who rarely come out on top against underdogs and get the 3 points that is expected. Had Man United, Man City or Chelsea gone to Carrow Road they would have come out victorious 9 times out of 10. It has now become a habit that Arsenal in the past few years dont win the matches that are expected to be won.
Holt mobbed by his team mates as Arsenal's Carl Jenkison walks on in despair |
Breaking down our performance, our biggest weakness in todays atrocious performance was firstly the lack of urgency flowing through the team as well as our wingers being unable to take on the full backs. Gervinho being the prime suspect of this. His goalscoring tally this year is a large improvement from last year at this stage, however his overall game hasn't. His lack of ability to take on a man is perhaps the most frustrating attribute.
Another weakness in todays performance was the lack of movement from our front men. Since the arrival of Giroud I have been impressed with his weekly performances, however a top goal scorer becomes lethal by consistent performances. If Giroud continues to show this lack of urgency, confidence and movement, things wont look too promising. With this in mind, I did write previously that he will get into a stride and start banging goals. I will give him 3 more weeks to prove what type of player he is and then see where our relationship stands.
But, we didn't make things easy for ourselves. A few costly slips in the defence led to weak shots on goal from their men up top and put pressure on our keeper. The cheap passes given away, also contributed to the shambolic performance and loss today.
In the next few weeks I would like to see Ed's balls on the barbecue and 3 points on the board. I recon its time to sack Arsene Wenger and bring in Arsene Wagner.
Keep the faith
Up the Gunners
Arsene Wagner
